The interview begins with Overeem giving the thumbs up to the movie Warriors. This movie, generally very well received by critics, tells the story of two brothers battling in an MMA tournament for different, respectful reasons. The Reem is clearly impressed with everything about the film, only wishing that more time had been spent actually explaining what the sport is about and the rules that govern it. Despite that, Alistair believes Warriors is the best martial arts movie out in the market right now, and that it will have a positive effect – particularly in Europe where the sport of MMA is less well known than in the US – in exposing a new audience to the sport.

Moving on, with Alistair Overeem recently signed to the UFC from Strikeforce and the K-1 kickboxing tournament circuit, and will face Brock Lesnar at the end of 2011 in what will no doubt be the hardest test of his career. Alistair typically does not discuss his training but he is prepared to predict that Lesnar will be knocked out in the first round of their match. One of the factors that separates the two fighters is that The Reem has more experience in full contact fighting (including kickboxing) than Brock. On the other hand, Lesnar is a powerhouse, very strong and, it should not be forgotten, the former UFC Heavyweight champion of the world. Alistair is confident though he has what it takes to stop Brock. The fight is set for UFC 141 to be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada on December 30th, 2011. The event has the potential to be the biggest pay-per-view fight of 2011, despite the card (at the time of writing) not featuring a championship bout. The match between Alistair Overeem and Brock Lesnar is being billed as a Heavyweight title contender bout with Cain Velasquez set to defend his title against challenger Junior dos Santos in the first UFC event ever to be televised on Fox Sports.
