With Edgar looking more than a little banged up, he talks about the near disaster in the first round when he got rocked by Maynard and put on his back, being dominated 10-8. This was highly reminiscent of the second fight between the two fighters at New Year. Between rounds he received some good advice and encouragement from his corner and took the next two rounds 10-9, thereby tying the match. In the fourth he caught Maynard, sent him back buckling and followed up with rapid punches to take the win.
Edgar would be happy to face Gilbert Melendez in the future with the winner unifying the UFC and Strikeforce belts.
