This episode starts with an interesting observation that is perhaps more akin to Aikido: the BJJ is the expression of love as it allows you to take care of an aggressor in a gentle way. Moving on the first fight in focus is Chael Sonnen vs Brian Stann. Chael was able to take side control repetitively and he demonstrated superb ability with his transitions, particularly in moving from Stann's back to full mount towards the end of round one. Going into round two, Chael adopted his plan in moving from side control to full mount and was able to do so early. Prior to the submission Chael also showed his skill by jumping from side control to the opposite side of Stann's body, setting himself up for the choke that would give him the win. The brothers then discuss variations on the final choke and some useful defenses.
The Gracie breakdown continues with the brothers also impressed with the mount escapes shown by Kenny Florian in his match against Jose Aldo, showing the importance of practicing from the bottom.
