Author Tony Wright discusses his views on the brain and our evolution, as outlined initially in his book Left in the Dark, in this Molecules of Madness interview.
Tony has had an enormous impact on my own development and theories with regard to the use of martial arts as a method of attaining satori ('enlightenment'). First for helping make it clear to me how our brains worked; second, by introducing me to the work of Dr Julian Jaynes and finally by forcing me to consider that satori is more a return to our original state of mind rather than some kind of escape from our current way of thinking and experiencing the world into a higher consciousness (I do not subscribe to the idea that there is any such thing as a higher consciousness, just a different consciousness that is rooted in the way our right brain hemisphere perceives the world).
